Wait wait wait
I know they kicked Altman, but what else happened?
The fired him, then after an outpouring from others in OpenAI, they said they’d rehire him, but he said the only way he’d come back is if the board all fucked off. Then he took a job at Microsoft and took a lot of his homies with him. Honestly, it started off like a bad weekend for Sam, but this has some real Parker Lewis Can’t Lose energy going on.
Kind of odd considering Microsoft sits on the OpenAI board
They own 50% of the company but they do not get a seat on the board. From my understanding that was a big part of OpenAI accepting the deal.
They do not. The OpenAI non-profit which is the board owns the for-profit, which MS invested in.
Microsoft hired him and apparently that means they’re done? 🤷
Edit: why the downvotes?
Stop complaining about downvotes! They build character!
Yes, dad. 🙄
Lol
Back in my day, even the upvotes were downvotes.
This shuffle will probably get rid of any non for profit roots open ai used to have.
AI? More like NO.
Sick burn
No it actually sucked.
Sucked? More like AI

ChatGPT-4 is 100 times smarter than the average board-of-directors rich fuck.
Honestly considering capitalists are detrimental to business I wouldn’t even really be surprised if GPT-4 was a better manager.
Exactly! I don’t get why I’m downvoted though, at least I don’t have the constant reminder aka karma like on reddit.
Reddit: your total is -2 and you should feel bad
Lemmy: it’s -17/+15 so clearly you’ve hit a nerve
Are you saying that the board, who has very little incentive to make openai profitable, is more greedy than Sam, who brought on Microsoft and made openai a paid product?
Are you saying that
Are-you-sayings are the death of discussion, I only said what I said and not a word more.

Not saying that, my comment was anti-boards of directors, wars happen in part because boards of directors want so.
We were not having a discussion. I wanted my anti-Sam opinion to be seen, that’s it. Your comment together with the meme made it seem like you were praising Sam as a proletarian hero.
