Nigel Farage has said violent UK offenders could be jailed overseas under his plans to cut crime by half.

The Reform UK leader named El Salvador as a likely destination, though he said he has not held conversations with officials there and “multiple” partners would be considered.

El Salvador is home to a notorious mega-prison, the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT).

Why are all these far right dickheads - who normally decry the very concept of sending “our” money to “foreigners” - so horny to send millions to foreign countries when it suits them? I know why, I wonder what their supporters would think if you phrased it like that though

This isn’t unique to the far right. UK Labour has been on the anti-immigration warpath since their election, having fully swallowed the “Brexit” pill and embraced xenophobia as a popular election strategy.

As the domestic economy contracts at the proletariat level, capital needs to displace blame for its own failures onto marginalized and politically powerless groups. Migrants - particularly undocumented migrants - are easy targets. Farrage is repeating the “Send them to El Salvador” line because its the high water mark for American reactionaries. But he’s just in a game of one-upsmanship with Keir Starmer, who will likely come back with a “That’s too expensive, we can dispose of migrants more cheaply” rebuttal.

That’'s an article summarized as: “Wannabe fascist dictator finally admits he’s up for having the government begin torturing and killing people he doesn’t like.”

If there’s one thing I dislike more than a fascist autocrat, it’s a would-be copycat fascist autocrat with no ideas of his own and a face like the world’s most punchable frog.

Canada had a Trump clone run in its last election. He faceplanted because Trump started threatening to annex Canada during the election. Maybe Farage’s endorsement of the worst Trump policies will have a similar effect.

Coincidentally, Canada’s Trump clone also had a punchable face. Maybe being full of shit naturally makes you look constipated and ill-tempered.

Poilievre isn’t a Trump clone. Trump is perceived as an outsider to politics, someone who isn’t a normal politician. Poilievre hasn’t had any other jobs than being a politician, and tried to run with Trump’s policies. I’m not going to say that’s why he lost the election, but he’s a long way from being a clone since he lacked one of the major traits that most people who would vote for Trump would identify with.

That’s a good point, actually. It’s worth noting, though, that Trump ran as the anti-elite candidate - a fact that is beyond absurd for someone who inherited almost a billion dollars. If a Manhattan billionaire can run as an everyman, maybe Poillievre’s long participation in Candian politics and his role under Harper would not prevent him running as a ‘political outsider.’ People might be dumb enough to believe it.

Farage is a traitor. Not hyperbole. If someone went through his devices and financials there would be enough Russia and American bribery and colluding to reopen the tower of London’s gallows.

Sadly he will be hugely popular because empathy seems to have been removed by the covid crisis.
