Threatening to sue, effectively forcing the media to back down because it would too inconvenient to deal with a suit is how Trump keeps getting away with his bullshit.

How about the media stop using caveats like “may have” when shit is entirely 100% clear.

There are laws on the books regarding things like this. There is no may have. It’s cut and fucking dried.

They’ve also figured out that the way to make Trump lose his shit repeatedly is to not react to his bullshit in any way except dismissiveness. Make an off-handed burn comment and then move on with your own platform like the senile old fuck doesn’t even deserve more than that.

Comments like “Whatever that was” and “Can’t run a livestream”, etc… is just the perfect off-hand snark to use because it turns him into a joke, but doesn’t lessen his threat. It’s a position of “Can you fucking believe that this joke of a human is actually a threat to our democracy people? Like WTF” is basically the gist of her snark remarks. And it’s totally having the effect they want.

I’m from a Portuguese family, and have been back to the Acores a number of times to visit family, etc… Even when I was very very young I remember going into the local church to look around and seeing how much gold was wasted on its interior while the village around it was still very much in a semi-poverty state. It was mind-blowing that that ever seemed “okay”.

When my folks were growing up (dad was born in 49, mom in 52) there were people on the island that didn’t have access to indoor plumbing, and yet every village’s local church was laced in gold.

If I read it correctly, Ukraine is facing a very large force to the north and struggling to repel it. If you open up another front, you force Putin to hopefully take troops from there to use on the defence in Kursk, thereby lessening the load on the soldiers defending in the North.

Crowd sizes can be relative

Ummmm…that’s not how counting works.

I agree with you that a lot of things can be relative. But crowd size at his inauguration is a terrible example of that (no offence). Two rallies in the same location, the number of attendants isn’t a relative ephemeral thing, it’s a cold-hard-statistic.

America is one of the only countries with such a long election cycle. Up here in Canada it’s much shorter thankfully. Get it over with and let people get on with their lives.

I think a lot of things started to go wrong right after Hilary said “When they go low, we go high”.

Back then they were labouring under the assumption that the Republican Party (and voters) actually had a sense of shame; that if you stick to the “political” fights rather than throwing some shade, you’ll eventually come out on top.

Now they (finally) know better. You gotta throw some shade in with that policy, and if you can make the shade humorous, all the better. Because the only thing Trump cares about is being seen as ‘strong’, and that’s why this whole ‘weird’ thing is working as well as it has.

I can’t help but think of the drug that President Roslin was taking on the Battlestar Galactica remake. But that’s because I’m a nerd.

They don’t deny anything. They simply parrot the views of whoever “donates” the most to their campaigns.

They have no convictions of their own beyond doing whatever is necessary to keep people giving them money.
