So what happened to McLaren? Did they just stop developing the car as its not just Red Bull that has caught them up as they have been struggling with Merc and Ferrari as well.

Piastri and Lando are choking. Can’t explain Piastri crashing to McLaren’s stagnant development

Also true, but in general the car has now been pretty much caught in terms of performance, barring some track specific advantages favouring one or another team. So both Piastri and Norris will need to dig deep to maintain their grip on the standings.

Yeah. I think people have forgotten just how much better (compared to the rest of the field) McLaren was at the start of the season. I think it was at Jeddah where Piastri zoomed past Hamilton on the dirty side of the track. Now he couldn’t even get close to Hamilton. That’s not just Hamilton getting more comfortable in the Ferrari, that’s also Ferrari being as good as the McLaren.

It might be that McLaren stopped development earlier than RBR, or they simply were at the top of what advances were still possible while Red Bull still had potential to find. Apparently Red Bull is now able to drive lower which helps its performance a lot.

What’s a bit mind blowing is how well Max is doing and how bad Yuki is doing. Take of two cities there.
