rippersnapper@lemm.eeto Europe@feddit.org•European Credit Card and digital euro is coming, end 2025English41·3 months agoNot all your money. Most people have more than 1 bank account. So this won’t change that. Also SWIFT transfers also include international transfers, and most people aren’t doing that outside of rare instances. Digital currency is only within EU regions, so this solution won’t affect non EU transfers. As OP said the goal is to reduce commissions to Visa and Mastercard.
rippersnapper@lemm.eeto Europe@feddit.org•European Credit Card and digital euro is coming, end 2025English71·3 months agoIt won’t kill commercial banks because there’ll be limitations. Biggest is you won’t be able to take a loan from the central bank, which is the largest slice of the pie for any bank making money. They can also put other limitations, such as no non-EU transactions, or having a max limit per month.
Why should a politician convicted of stealing money ever be allowed in a position of power? Why not just ban her for life?

Probably the biggest loophole that HAS to be fixed!

They found no oneEnglish4·3 months agoEh, it’s over a billion people. Most people (who don’t live in cities) don’t know about Trump other than the fact that he’s the president. Even those who have internet aren’t going to see US news cuz their feeds aren’t curated for that.

And they’ve been terrible for a while. The only good things were the first mover advantage, battery tech and supercharger network.
Meanwhile the competitors like BYD have caught up.

America and the world (except for the Neo Axis powers) will continue to suffer. Unless by some miracle democracy still functions in US.
rippersnapper@lemm.eeto Europe@feddit.org•European tech industry coalition calls for 'radical action' on digital sovereignty — starting with buying localEnglish8·4 months agoWe don’t need to start with big products such as phones. Start small, such as moving off to a new email for personal use. Keep the gmail one for junk use (i.e: when signing up to services). Ask your closest friends to switch to Signal instead of WhatsApp. Use Firefox instead of Chrome (you can import all your browser settings). This process will take years and shouldn’t simply be a knee jerk reaction).

Go back to using the Press for official statements of high importance. And use Mastodon (Bluesky can interact with Mastodon instances in the future iirc) for rest. As a longer term project, move govt systems to Linux.
Number of reasons. Works well with Apple products, long battery life, way more powerful for most normal (sometimes applies to even some basic UI devs and small project video editing). It’s got great hardware. However Apple is a nightmare capitalist company that’ll try to dime and nickel you for every possible thing.

Canada is still well protected, unlike rest of Europe which has a land border with Russia. Post Ukraine, it’s the turn of ex Soviet states (i.e. Lithuania, etc) to start googling where to move?

But in this event I think it’s better for you to upgrade to Win 11 or maybe even move to MacOS (mac mini is pretty cheap), though I don’t know if you’ll find your replacement apps.
I use Win for work (no choice there) and Ubuntu at home (just browse the net, and only browser applications).
One of my Indian friends said she felt invisible when visiting France. Apparently being stared at just for being a woman is common in India.
Address some of the issues. Like not having multiple similar posts, on different instances with similar named communities.
Also to reach critical mass, we need to keep posting. Addition of new apps such as Boost will also increase popularity
