Mother. Of. God. Did they really write Kbin in PHP?
I may be talking shit because I’m not a PHP coder, but the times I’ve seen it, it was a nightmare.

But content could be moved here without giving them money using their free tier API. We’d just need to make a bot that downloads their best posts and puts them here.
Personally, this seems like a good idea to attract more people… But it doesn’t feel organic.
Are you a murderer?
“what? No” - a murderer.
What’s the point of making people say what you want to hear if they can lie?
Why? I feel like I really align. I like moderation and safe spaces. I’ve seen what places with no moderation turn into. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia…
Looking at you 9Gag.
I’m not angry at them or trying to hurt them with this post. I was already told 100 times that I’m wrong, which is fine.
I was literally asking if this is the case because for me it was the only rational explanation. I can’t imagine someone reading these answers for every single new user that joins, knowing people would gladly lie or bots would just use GPT. So I thought there was more to it than a real ethical filter. It’s a very naive filter, which is cute.
Imagine going to a amusement park ride and instead of using height measuring tool they ask you what’s your height.
Seemed like the only rational explanation for gatekeeping with 3 questions. People can lie and bots can use GPT.
I thought the questions were just a formality, not an actual filter. Like my answers clearly showed I wasn’t a bot. So I guess they didn’t like I didn’t say much about myself, or how nice and polite I am…
Plus, I’m literally asking in the question because I really wasn’t sure, it just seemed like the logical thing. But everyone is pointing out it’s a real filters… So the real conclusion is that they aren’t very good with filters.
Because saying nice things on 3 questions is something someone with actual malicious intent or a bot with GPT can do.
I thought the only logical conclusion for gatekeeping with those questions was the donations.
I feel like people are getting mad because I’m pointing out 3 questions won’t stop bots or malicious actors. It’s just so illogical to think those questions are any kind of real ethical filter.
I can be douchy or sarcastic for humor but I wasn’t in the questions. I just didn’t sell myself the way they wanted to because I really wasn’t expecting someone to read that. When I saw someone was actually reading it I immediately thought it was about money because they are obviously not filtering bots with that strategy when Chatgpt exists.
They are also not going to filter people with malicious intention, they invented lying a long time ago.
I guess my issue was overthinking.
I’m just answering to the people who replied to my post, is that wrong? And no, I won’t use tools to bypass security measures. I’m just pointing out an obvious flaw in their filter.
I actually enjoy moderation because it creates a space in which specific groups can feel safe. I like places where people can be themselves without discrimination and hatred :)
Was that convincing? I could use it in my next attempt. Haha.
Well, wasn’t that already implied?
“The year was 2023, Chatgpt had already been invented…”
That seems like a 2021 bot filter to me.
Like, is this really how they are filtering users? Do they know what chatgpt is? Because I could literally copy their rules and philosophy and generate 1000 outputs for bot accounts if I was evil.
I really don’t feel like cheating anyone with Chatgpt and I also don’t feel like writing an essay explaining my worth. I’ll just wait until they relax the interview process.
They said I should take a peek at their philosophy page, but it was mostly about how they rely on donations.
Edit: read again and it isn’t. Everything else just seemed like common rules, not philosophy: being nice, no discrimination, safe space… Like, all of that should be implied, not core philosophy.
And not being welcomed is going to stop them?
