It won’t probably help directly with coping with the MS, but can be really great for helping a lot of other areas of marriage, including your struggles with intimacy save romance. I recommend going in person if there’s one near enough.

Something like that can be great to do whether your marriage is on the rocks or going beautifully smoothly. - That might help your wife get over the sort of looming threat of “mental help for her”.

Anyway I’d second the advice of others that therapy can help. Don’t be afraid of finding you’re not suited for each other: Good marriage counselling is not just about “finding happiness with your own decision,” as another has said. Good marriage counselling helps you understand and rediscover each other and yourselves, giving you the best chance of (re)building relationship and new love with each other.

I can’t promise a cure-all solution, but I hope it can help.

I’m pretty sure that one’s been solidly proven in a long series of double blind tests, over a large, international, sample.

I still have trouble referring to a person as ‘black’. It feels like a slur, or at least an inappropriate racial caricature (they’re not really black!) and it still surprises me that it’s become the acceptable and inoffensive term.

The n word almost seemed more mild, being about the same thing (an inappropriate way to describe race from skin colour), but linguistically removed (I’m not a native Latin speaker*) so I can feel it’s just a word, no need to be intrinsically good or bad.

But neither is your skin colour expressed in Latin. It becomes a slur based on how and when it’s used.

I agree with feeling ‘obese’ is a neutral, objective term for the physical/medical fact. But then, coming from a non-Anerican context, I used to have no sense of the N word being so offensive, any more than any other random insulting (or even affectionate!) term.

In the wrong context, ‘obese’ can certainly be hurtful and inappropriate. I can imagine, for some people, it’s a trigger word of years of pain and mockery.

It’s not my fault. Imperial Skyrim colonized my comment and won’t give it back.

Good to know. I’ll put it in for a few minutes once it’s out the dishwasher. The dishwasher never quite fully dries my PS5, I usually have to put it in the tumble dryer afterwards with the silverware.
