Yeah I don’t know either. I had a problem once or twice with it because I powered it off randomly when it locked up under load (did this a lot, this machine is 12 years old and needs maintenance). Btrfs check repair fixed it. Snapper rollback is awesome for updates. Under opensuse at least it seems extremely stable.
I got some doordasher with a typoed email who is apparently constantly driving under the influence for doordash because I keep getting reminders that that’s against Doordash policy
Here’s the serious advice: whenever you have to think about it like this, don’t do it.
Not here
Just started getting this too today
Are you harvesting vote data with this comment
Oh maybe retrans doesn’t do anything with hard.
Cifs has some options too, it is easier to deal with user ids than NFS. I just had Claude AI tell me options
Add -o hard
And if youre using nfsv3 add retrans=5
Nfsv4 doesbt really need retrans but it still worls.
That has worked perfectly for me.
Wait doesn’t everyone
I had a 70 Olds 98 with the Rocket 455. You could literally hear the gas pouring into the dinner-plate sized carburetor when you floored it. Had it for two or three days and the janky wiring caught fire and it burned up. Probably for the best really.
Of everything, this is low on the list of things to be annoyed about. While there were probably better ways, this is an area used for gatherings and DC being DC, it is pretty marshy and unusable as a lawn. There have been plans for a long time to do something like this.
Have been in Manhattan the last couple of days, the bikes (and especially the fast ebikes) are a damn menace. The cars at least stop for crosswalks and signals. The bikes absolutely do not. Got stuck at that big bike crosswalk near Central Park West as hordes of bikes just blew the red light, meant specifically for them in their dedicated bike lane.
It also harvests lots of data. Check your firewall logs.
Soldered in there :) also max 8 GB memory. I only paid like $30 for this box 6 years ago including the $10 for four used drives, I’m not expecting it to run Crysis.
To be extra clear, it was released in 2010 or something. This thing is 15 years old!
Encryption slows it down a lot. It’s just a Turion II
I’ve got a N40L running TrueNAS. It is slow for mass transfers but at about 40-60mbps transfer speeds it is plenty fast for file usage (jellyfin libraries etc.) Right now it’s just a secondary but it is quiet and uses little power. You can get 3.5 to 2.5 adapters and use ssds for even quieter use.
In other words don’t be afraid to trawl around on eBay and experiment.
Having a separate machine as a NAS is good, running TrueNAS or XigmaNAS. You can segregate your backups from your daily use, you can have automated tasks run, etc.
Machine wise, I’m gonna try out a Beelink with nvme slots. Right now I’m using a Proliant microserver. Don’t get one with a hardware RAID card as you want to be able to use zfs. But otherwise they sell pretty cheap on Ebay.
Lineage works great on the Galaxy Tabs that support it
Ahhh …ha haha…ha…ha
