I doubt enough people realized this for this effect. I’m not a huge Star Wars fan myself and this went completely over my head. I don’t doubt that dedicated Star Wars fans picked up on it immediately, but most probably only heard of it from these. I see that a lot online. People decide to hate a piece of media even before it airs and then collect reasons for it after the fact.

But that’s just my guess, anyway. I haven’t watched The Acolyte farther than episode 4 or 5, but not because of anything specific. Just didn’t grab me to keep watching. I thought I’ll come back to it eventually, but now that I know it’s canceled I probably won’t.

I want to add that the box office income is simply one of the only objective metrics to compare the success of films.

The first time I saw a bag like that, I was shocked as well. Seems like just the worst idea to use plastic to create tea bags. Turns out it is and they weren’t made out of plastic. It’s a starch based fiber that is biodegradable. I don’t think you could have plastic tea bags here in the EU in any case. I’d wager yours isn’t plastic either. Yeah, so you probably got mildly infuriated over nothing, just like I did the first time I saw one of these 🤷

Not necessarily, it is likely that a tourist is just not used to these specific pathogens. While the people living there are used to them. So their immune system isn’t better per se just more adapted to the environment.

I get you, though. A mailman once made a completely inappropriate joke about my last name that I already had heard so many times and I was just dumbstruck. He was so excited and gaudy to let me in on it. I’m sure he thought I wouldn’t know that one. Hopefully he could see the life leave my body, when I monotonously answered “never heard that one before” and remembers that the next time he thinks of a joke about the name of a customer.

Name-based jokes should definitely die. Especially if it’s from people you just met!

However, they are still above ethnicity-, body-, gender-based comedy for basically the same reasons.

I think I’m going to stay. I’ll try it for a few days or weeks. If I can get used to new interface, especially on mobile (jerboa currently) then I’m going to delete all my comments and posts on Reddit and delete my account. Going to use this as the final motivation to delete my Twitter and Facebook accounts as well. I’m not using them anymore anyway. I hope this is going to be the start of a bigger change around the internet away from these corporation owned sites.
