Find me on:
I don’t have an IPv6 PTR and I send mails through a .xyz domain and everything still works at least when sending to a gmail inbox.
I managed to set up an SMTP server on my instance, I think I used postfix and dovecot after following some random tutorial. Then followed it with some generic make your mail not fall into spam tutorial to have the DKIM records and whatnot and to my surprise the e-mails reached even my Gmail inbox, which has probably the most strict rules. I must say that setting up postfix with dovecot is the hardest part, at least for me, after that it was just copy-pasting commands and setting some DNS records.
FairEmail is a great email client. Also everytime I reinstall my phone, I get the SimpleMobileTools line of apps, their apps like gallery or calendar are nice-looking and useful.
Yeah feel like mostly recently MIUI has become unbelievably bloated with random BS. Nowadays everytime I get a new xiaomi phone I start by unlocking the bootloader.
Yeah I switched from 99 % of Google services (the 1 % is google services used by my school etc. and youtube, for which I use NewPipe), however Google services should not be required for the likes of gmail or youtube, google services might be required for some games (google play games dependencies) or to receive certain push notifications (firebase notification service or something like that). When I used lineageos with MicroG (opensource Google Services replacement), my phone had longer battery life, but that might have been a coincidence.
Am using Elixir on my Xiaomi phone, I really like the customization stuff. It would be ideal if it would come in a variant without Google services :/ Otherwise it runs pretty nice.
Even for its non-standard layout, I’ve really fallen in love with Kvaesito. Maybe it’s because I now don’t have to work out which widgets I want to have on my main screen and how to lay them out.
