OMG I love Mastodon and my instance (mas.to). Left Twitter for Mas about 8 months ago - I love following hashtags even more than people. There’s some great gems to follow though. For both Twitter, and now Reddit, I left for Fedi and just never went back. Facebook was another cold turkey quitting, no alternative for that one, that was years ago now.

Kbin is out of stock software?

No affiliation to Christian Selig or the Apollo app that I’ve read. I’ve been on a couple of Lemmy instances and Kbin.social for about four weeks now (a couple of days after Christian posted about the API charges) and always found content and activity was much greater on Lemmy. All my Lemmy instances have about the same Active/Top listings (I didn’t use Hot sorting in Reddit and not using it with Lemmy, it’s not how I like to view).

I was drawn to the interface of Kbin like everyone else, but I quickly realized that the interface was buggy and clunky and not ready for prime time. It very well may perfect everything it is aiming to achieve. It appears they’re trying to make it easy for users to interact with Mastodon style servers and Lemmy style servers, and joining the features of both worlds. That sounds pretty cool if it can be done right. But I want my votes to count, I want it to be easy to cross post or boost (these are different) and yes I’d love to interact with Mastodon also but only if those other things work correctly, that’s just how I like to get into my threads and conversations while consuming posts.

It’s called blocked instances and Beehaw makes liberal use of the feature.

Beehaw is notoriously strict with their content and philosophical approach to federation. Last I checked they banned hundreds of instances. That’s not my style. I looked for a well moderated instance that left the banning to the user and kept the server up to date and running. In fact I think they still have no instances banned yet. VLemmy did make me register and wait for approval which happened that same day and it’s been a real pleasure.

I have accounts on other instances and Kbin and all instances seem to carry about the same posts when sorting by All. The fediverse requires the user to search a bit more for the community that fits them best, and that’s a good thing.

Try a few instances and platforms. Kbin is pretty cool but not really my thing, I love Mastodon and my instance (shout out to mas.to and @rodti@mas.to).

Yeah, I think it’s a great idea for larger groups or corporations.

Edit: Sorry, this is no stupid questions, I shouldn’t be joking around like that. It’s just that if you really haven’t read anything she’s publicly said, okay. But it’s pretty well known what her stance is on those and other topics. In my opinion her views are not aligned with inclusivity or empathy. We don’t know her in person, all I can judge is her public persona.
