Honestly I kind of agree with op’s submission. Apple just didn’t have a real plan for what they wanted it to be. It sits in an awkward niche between AR and VR and it sucks at both as a result.

A heads up display that could overlay useful information onto the world around you would be amazing.

The problem is that the apple vision is huge and bulky. They need to shrink it down to the size of big nerd eyeglasses. Microsoft did the same thing with their whatever it was called. I played with it a few times at different tech demos. It was garbage from the start because it was heavy, uncomfortable, and the refresh rate was intolerably slow. Apple’s is a slight improvement in a few categories but it still completely misses the point of what AR should be.

Plenty of systems require operation to know if they are functional or not. So it’s pretty easy to think of ways that the aircraft can indicate a malfunction when it’s first leaving the gate with passengers aboard.

Jack Smith only got appointed in 2023 and he’s been working his ass off on multiple cases simultaneously.

So yeah it takes time. I’m frustrated too. It would’ve been great if all of this had played out the minute Biden got into office but that just wasn’t up to him - the processes had to play out on their own. Otherwise we’d create a politicized justice system (well, more than it already is) with a fucking gestapo going after political opponents. The big manufacturers (specifically, the ones listed by OP) change their battery connectors and voltages every 10 or so years in order to re-patent the shapes to make them the sole suppliers of usable batteries. People that work on job sites need batteries that are intrinsically safe and robust enough to get thrown around or smashed by other heavy tools. So those packs have to be really overbuilt.

Luckily the major design patents are about to run out and a third party will swoop in and free us from the tool manufacturer battery tyranny.
