I would expect Twitter to be a huge conservative circle jerk, but it really is not. I think the fighting between the two sides is good for business. I also would expect TikTok to do so as well, and maybe it will once Ellison takes over, but so far that’s the best boots on the ground source for seeing real events happening in real time, even if it conflicts with whatever bullshit narrative is spun out of the event.

It’s funny - before I actually clicked that link, I assumed it was Sony bricking PSP devices with custom firmware. I’d entirely forgotten they put ROOT KITS on their music CDs. They didn’t get in near enough trouble over that.
Princess Diana’s death, for sure. I remember my mother being absolutely distraught, and I didn’t understand why. We’re not British and I’d literally never hear of her (from my mother or otherwise) before her passing and funeral were news. The funeral took place in the middle of the night and I remember her being up super early to watch (and I eventually woke up and joined her).
I’m surprised it was 1997, I would have figured it was '95ish. Can’t believe that’s the first news story I can remember. But we definitely were NOT a news household. Nobody reading the newspaper, no local news on at night or cable TV news on TV all day.

A district manager noticed they were being displayed backwards. The deli manager went to a training class and fixed something they were doing wrong. A new deli manager transferred from another store and trained her new people to do the job correctly. A new deli backup went to train in a different location and learned something they were doing wrong. A different assistant manager was put in charge of deli and corrected the behavior. They were hosting a district meeting and when all the district leadership came to help prep the store, they were retrained.
These are all real life scenarios that happen in real grocery stores. I’m pretty confident that the shitty scale label was never meant to be facing forward, regardless of the price. If they are “hiding” the price, then why are they not hiding the 50 price tags in the service case over at the deli counter where they sliced it in the first place?
Not everything is a conspiracy. The presliced lunch meat trays are labeled with what is in them, they’re meant to be shown product forward, not scale label first.

Yeah - for years it was a primary deciding factor for me when it was time for a new phone - HTC One m7, HTC One m8, Moto X Pure Edition all had front facing speakers. I think by the end there were simply no longer any options though… And now 10 years later, they’re still pointing the speakers at the damned ground. 😿

I have no idea why these terrible downward facing speakers took off, HTC had it nailed in 2012. RIP, king of smartphones. I’m glad to at least have 2 proper speakers on my Fold6 and 7, rather than an amplified earpiece speaker… But this is just not how sound works. I shouldn’t have to cup my hand around the side to point the sound in the proper direction.

You would be correct. My church growing up did NOT use crosses, instead remembering his life and not his death. That always made more sense to me.
Of course I believe in freedom of speech, but Marco and the Felon-in-Chief CERTAINLY do not, so this is clearly a smoke screen. And frankly, I suspect that any previous examples of this happening are in the interest in basic human decency. The fact of the matter is that American businesses doing business internationally have to be held accountable for the laws of the countries they are operating in as well, so this all sounds completely ridiculous.
