Thurkeau@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•[What if scenario] What if all commercial institutions suddenly decided they no longer intend to acknowledge religious events such as Christmas?English21·2 years agoI’ve noticed that seems to be happening, especially with companies like Amazon, whom I work for, aside from the money they can make from it. That said, we also have an example of that in the form of old Soviet Russia. They had actually eliminated most holidays.
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What if urine was reprocessed by large intestines?English1·2 years agoThat is also something that I have wondered about, but that probably isn’t a thing because of salt buildup.
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What if urine was reprocessed by large intestines?English2·2 years agoThat’s actually part of my question. The bowels also dump toxins overboard as well, but will they be enough to do the job?
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What if urine was reprocessed by large intestines?English11·2 years agoTrue, though as is, we still need to take in water due to a shortfall in what we do take in. That said, I’m also wondering if my proposal would also result in other waste products being recirculated and building up in the system, causing their own complications.
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What if urine was reprocessed by large intestines?English21·2 years agoI can totally see that, though what if the body was able to adapt to the new configuration and keep the gut bacteria in its place, but the urine still flowed into the bowels for reprocessing? What else would the large intestines pick up aside from water and maybe salt?
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What if urine was reprocessed by large intestines?English31·2 years agoThen you’d be right back where you started for my purposes, still losing moisture unnecessarily.
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What if urine was reprocessed by large intestines?English6·2 years agoI think that’s called a bicycle.
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What if urine was reprocessed by large intestines?English1·2 years agoA cloaca still has facilities for urine to be dumped overboard, doesn’t it? My proposal is to recirculate it before dumping it overboard dry.
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldto Reddit@lemmy.world•As a 14-year long user, the new Fisher Price UI makes me sad :( What have they done to you, Reddit?English3·2 years agoYou mean 14 year-long user of Fisher Price products? :3
…and that is, where? The web site in the open web, or the now closed r/linuxquesions?
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldto Lemmy.World Announcements@lemmy.world•let's cut the "Reddit" circle jerk and start actually making content2·2 years agoI’m here trying to learn how this service operates, and am finding a few bugs that make it more challenging than it probably should be. Some things, like trying to post musings or my own miscilaneous content “to myself” (that is, it would be part of my own page that can be viewed, but not part of a particular community) just gives me a spinning wheel indefinitely. If nothing else, better feedback from the UI would greatly help.
With all the shenanigans on Reddit still going on, and r/linuxquestions (best I can tell) still being down, I also would love to see them extend to the Fediverse.
…though I am wondering why on my Mint installation, Firefox running causes my sound to crackle. If I try the same site (say, Odysee) in Midori or Chromium, everything is normal, but with Odysee playing, if I so much as open Firefox and let it sit on the landing page, my sound will begin to crackle until I decide to close it, at which time it quits in a few seconds. It also sounds like crap when I try to send Firefox to Odysee. It’s the same for if I send it to another site, like YouTube or Pandora, as well as finding videos on r/BreathOfTheWild via Reddit.
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Juste received this love letter from reddit's adminsEnglish1·2 years agoI would say the best thing is to find a way to hijack the link to your community to bring people here, and have their accounts there work seamlessly here. I bet that’s impossible, so I guess it’s time to scale back the ambitions of the community, linking to a “better” version here.
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•The length of this traffic jam.English01·2 years agoGood luck with that, though. If this is America, and I think it is, we find ways of making a good public transit system suck. I also think we need to take a hard look at how our towns and cities are desined as well, and make them to where they’re optimized to be able to drive into a central location then bicycle or hoof it to whrever you wanted to go within a couple miles.
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How exactly do I demonize my hands?English1·2 years agoWhy just stop at your favorite? Go hog wild.
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How exactly do I demonize my hands?English1·2 years agoYeah, but that green tea scent undemonizes your hands, so that obviously won’t work.
Thurkeau@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you think the guys on the titanic submarine will be rescued?English10·2 years agoI would say that all reasonable efforts should be made to rescue or recover anyone and everyone who has gone missing. We can figure out the rest once we exhaust all optons, or have them back on the boat.
Still looking for a snake that’s small enough. My normal goto, copper wire, is a challenge to use in small tubes as well.
