To be fair, there’s a point to be made that someone who’s overly trigger-happy on dislike should be shamed for it. Just like you would be if you kept being snide to everyone in real life.
I agree that transparency would do much more good than harm, plus compared to the info that people already put in their profiles/comments, it’s not likely to make them anymore identifiable.
Votes should absolutely be public. They were on KBin, and it made people more civil for it because you could be shamed if you were dislike trolling or liking all of your own posts/comments to make them look better (which is something you actively have to do on here, unlike Reddit).
Given this place is pseudo-anonymous anyways, and people comment far more personal and identifiable info here anyways (which tbf you should be careful about), I think public votes would do much more good than harm.
Too many people end up in debt spirals with these BNPL companies because there’s no consistent safeguards against it, so we absolutely should be regulating them better. We shouldn’t be leaving financially vulnerable people to the wolves.

The idea of copyright itself isn’t a bad thing IMO - reward creatives by allowing them exclusivity over their works for an amount of time sufficient to recoup costs and make some profit.
Problem is monopolistic mega-corporations screwed it all up in the name of profits by extending copyright decades past its original intention, and by copyrighting not just the works but even the means of accessing any of them.
It’s no secret that the reuse of public domain inspirations was how many of the largest entertainment companies and largest publishers got to where they are, so of course they pulled the ladder to ensure it’d be a whole lot harder to follow them.
Copyright is broken, and you only need follow the money to see who broke it.

You’re right, but I was making a point, as social media is most often where you hear people calling for revolution.
I’ll agree that strikes can work, especially employment strikes - but that’s usually because there’s a specific, private entity to target, an employer to back into the metaphorical corner.
As far as protesting/striking against the system, you need only look at the strikes and protests relating Palestine to know what kind of force such a revolutionary strike would be met with.
On the grand scheme of things, I suspect we actually don’t have that much power in stopping the industrial machine.
Even if every person on here, on Reddit, and every left-leaning social media revolted against the powers that be right now, we wouldn’t resolve anything. Not really. They’d send the military out, shoot us down (possibly quite literally), then go back to business as usual.
Unless there becomes a business incentive to change our ways, then capitalism will not follow, and instead it’ll do everything it can to resist that change. By the time there is enough economic inventive, it’ll be far too late to be worth fixing.
As others have said, our reference of time comes from our own universe’s rules.
Ergo if rendering 1 second of our time took 10 years of their time, we wouldn’t measure 10 years, we’d measure 1 second, so we’d have no way of knowing.
It’s worth remembering that simulation theory is, at least for now, unfalsifiable. By it’s nature there’s always a counterargument to any evidence againat it, therefore it always remains a non-zero possibility, just like how most religions operate.

As someone with ASD, I can’t say I’ve seen that much difference in the time it takes NT/ND people to get over a fight.
While I have seen some consistency across the sexes, in that guys seem to hold onto arguments for less time on average, even that varies quite a lot.

But seriously though, even when not being grifters, it’s like as though conservatives just never developed a theory of mind - they can’t process the idea of people who don’t possess some kind of dogmatic faith.
Some people prefer to follow where the evidence leads, rather than what the pastor says.
If it can be justified by hatred or billionaire interests, it’ll absolutely be on there. Because if there’s one thing Republicans hate more than anything, it’s people that are different (or think differently) to them leading happy lives.
Not that I would ever suggest it, but I bet the moment a president even attempted to abuse this official power against these six conservative traitors to democracy, they’d desperately try to walk this decision back - they only care for the potential of abuse when it negatively affects them

LLMs don’t actually know what the words they’re saying mean, they just know what words are most likely to be next to each other based on training data.
Because they don’t know the meaning of what they’re saying, they also don’t know the factuality of what they’re saying - as such they simply can’t self-fact check.

Honestly transparency in this regard would be better - they’re already visible to much of the community, so they might as well be visible to everyone.
