God, I love these posts.
This post is pure unfiltered 100% awesome! I find I’m frequently having anxiety attacks these days because of… <gestures at everything>, but reading this massive in-depth writeup, just letting me soak in a hobby I love but don’t have much time for as I’d like, has relaxed me more than anything has in months. Thank you so much! 🙏 I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for these in the future!

From this the “principle of the second man” can be formulated: it is the second man who determines whether the creation of the first man will be carried forward or destroyed…
It was a golden chance and a room full of cowards let it slip.
The book is Design of Cities by Edmund Bacon for anyone interested.

Snowcano@startrek.websiteto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Linkwarden (v2.9.0) - open-source collaborative bookmark manager to collect, organize, and preserve webpages, articles, and documents (tons of new features!) 🚀English2·6 months agoI just spun up Wallabag on my server the other day to replace Omnivore. Im going to take a look at this, but does anyone have experience or thoughts on how this compares? I’m not so deep into it yet that I couldn’t switch to Linkwarden if it’s better.
My main uses would be archiving articles and highlighting passages.
I remember having this conversation with my mom when I was young and saying something like, “Well that’s great then, this is an easy win. Scientists should be able to examine them and confirm the change and then we know what the Bible is telling us is true,” and she replied that that’s not how faith works. And I was dumbfounded and like, “But… it would be so easy…”
And that lesson of how willfully choosing ignorance is somehow something to be valued was a key turning point in my waking up to the bullshit of religion. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Once you start venturing into places not meant for visitors, the difficulty goes from 0 to 100 real quick. That said, sometimes those experiences of struggling communication can be among the best you’ll have here.
What a terrible day to be literate
I thought Mullvad didn’t port forward any more so torrents didn’t work with it?
