that’s why i’ve been documenting the horrors i can find evidence of in my town. too many white liberals think because nothing bad has happened to them means that nothing bad could be happening. their peaceful homogonized neighborhoods are pretty evenly split between white liberals and white conservatives, and they get along fine with the conservatives and assume that’s how the cons treat everyone.

this is part of how the overton window shifts rightward. the more isolated someone is, the easier they are to manipulate. these isolated white liberals lack diversity of perspective but value open mindedness as a virtue. the only people they encounter who disagree with them look like them, talk like them, and eat like them. the only difference is they don’t value open mindedness. they want to maintain a community of only people who look like them, talk like them, and eat like them.

resisting fascism starts at home. it starts by choosing to inherit the stories of our past and speak of this truth to others. coalition building is a process of both finding people you can trust and a process of notifying people that their one PoV isn’t the only way to see the world and that they might have work to do

it’s telling that the starburies were worse shoes than jordans, but they weren’t $150 worse. if their workers had been paid, they probably still would have cost more, but they engaged in the exact same sweat shop labor as nike and adidas and offered a product for nearly 1/10th the price

this has always been the dirty trick of fascism. you won’t get a cushy job for running off your marginalized neighbor or isolating yourself from the countries you’ve long exploited. you will instead become the new marginalized class, and your community will become the exploited colony of the empire.

i listed john mayer because he’s up to even worse shit masquerading as an artist’s artist in the blues scene. but on the whole, yes. hating katy perry more than any other female artist is totally fair. but to hate her more than any other artist at all? i find that a little suspicious. and again. i’m in the swaths of katy perry haters. i hate her because she props up a mysoginistic system. but even i look around at the horde and go “guys, really? all this? for her?”

they do! the maga cult can’t be exposed to diverse perspectives. the motivation for this is that diverse perspectives threaten the white supremacist hegemony by offering frustrated white men alternative solutions to their anger that they can’t perform masculinity in the way idealized by people like andrew tate, donald trump, and pete hegseth (none of whom live up to that standard, by the way. much like hitler would have been sent to a death camp were he not the führer given the phenotypical traits he possessed and was persecuting). white supremacy says the answer is to get violent, entrench yourself deeper into capitalism, and intensify the status quo. the hierarchy is intrinsic to human nature according to these people. never mind that the racial hierarchy was invented 400 years ago.

but that’s the thing, at the end of the day. it’s not even that japan isn’t racist, or doesn’t have problems with the hierarchy. it’s that if japanese tourists talked to the maga cult, they might notice things. they might figure out our divisions are arbitrary. the white supremacist plan for this country is mass scale civil war / genocide. the cult leaders need numbers. they get more numbers by keeping people already in the thrall enthralled. any risk to that is unacceptable

the thing i mostly wanted to capture is basically that there are valid reasons to want nothing to do with Katy Perry in the year 2025, but the largest bloc of anti-perry stans are in it for the wrong reasons, and there are other people we should be doing more more to strip of power. it’s basically… the only people we’re good at stripping of power as a society are minorities and women. i’m not saying we shouldn’t be stripping katy perry of power, but it does contrast with how many times john mayer and justin timberlake have done something shitty and been alowed to hang around. the mysoginy in this instance is less the hate, and more the hate in contrast with others

katy perry hate has come in waves:

• hating her music because it was unchallenging and consumable (there’s other artists i’d hate for this long before her)
• hating her for standing up for rebecca black (this wave is pure misogyny)
• hating her because she broke up with russel brand (russel brand sucks, she should have never dated his garbage ass. i probably should have listed an item for she dated russel brand in the first place, but that wave is miniscule and insignificant)
• hating her because she cut her hair and she aged and that wasn’t sexy for some people (this is as far as i can tell the largest and most misogynistic wave)
• hating her for going back to doctor luke to try to recapture the popularity she had earlier in her career when he was her producer (this is the tempo i’m on. dr luke is ke$ha’s abuser and as far as i can tell is a serial predator)
• hating her because she’s acting as propaganda for one of the technoligarchs in our fascist regime (rather fair, i’d say, tbh)
