Otherwise using old.reddit with a browser has been a decent fallback.

Instead of using Imgur, I’ve been uploading images to posts on Lemmy and then linking to those on Reddit with my comment.

Haven’t had any issues doing that.
The downside to this is, if the instance shuts down, those images won’t be available.

This is why I prefer it when people specify what kind of “AI” they’re talking about rather than just saying “AI” as a buzzword. I definitely agree with Derbauer here… this is painful.

Switching to a good VPN server, or turning off the VPN will let you browse Reddit again.

You’re not going to find everything you want outside of YouTube just yet. But apps like GrayJay make it a lot easier to start transitioning to other platforms.

It combines most all of the video sharing platforms in one. From there you can start following creators if they have their channel setup on different platforms while still being able to keep your main home feed coming from YouTube if you wanted to.

Unfortunately I think that ship has sailed.

The meaning of AI has changed drastically within the past 10 years or so.

Back then ‘AI’ was a term reserved for Artificially Intelligent beings like Skynet, HAL, the machines from The Matrix, etc.

Today AI has been watered down to the point that we need to specify what kind of AI we’re referring to.

I’m not sure there’s a way to stop that unless you unleash a swarm of very convincing social media accounts across the internet all run by LLMs with the goal of correcting our current course… that or put them to work writing news articles like this one.

As long as you use the right kind of SSD, there aren’t any problems with doing this.

That’s pretty messed up if there isn’t a valid way to disclose it on the official paperwork.

One of the legitimate reasons I can see for this law would be cases where someone changed their name to be similar, or the same, as someone else who is much more likely to win.

So if someone changed their name to Joe Biden recently, I would absolutely want it disclosed that they had done so.
