I’m excited to play this game on my Xbox, I’ve watched a few videos on Shadows of Doubt! The mysteries feel so organic and interconnected; as the game seems to weave a large web of intrigue the longer you play.

I don’t mind the changes they are proposing for the Photos app; the current version annoys me as there is no way to sort photos by recent to older. For whatever reason, the oldest photos are on top while the most recent are in the bottom. It drives me mad, at the very least a proper chronological sorting option is very much appreciated. Everything else, I can adjust, since I don’t have a strong Apple Muscle Memory.

I hope it will be a good game as well, I do like the Warhammer 40K universe (fascinating, as it paints a grim dystopian future which humanity has been entrapped within). Life would be better if human beings collectively worked to make life better for the previous, current, and next generation of human beings. By creating policies that positively impact the society, quality of life could be much better. If people had the chance to live without worries about the immediate future, perhaps depression would not be such an issue. I don’t know what you’ve been reading, but the last time I checked: Science hasn’t proven that there is no god or afterlife; this is still an open question at the moment. It’s a matter of faith, as science is chasing far more important answers. I personally neither disbelief nor believe in a God; there’s no direct proof save what people have written about said being. If anything, a serious lack of direct communication with all living beings on Earth seems to be an indication of an absence of a Creator Being. Also, given the contradictory nature of the bible; it feels like the pure work of man, with no higher power involved. As LLMs haven’t been able to pass a Turing Test, I can’t quite let the ‘AI’ descriptor go unchallenged. It doesn’t sit right with me; I’m not comfortable with the intentional dishonesty that conflating LLMs with AI. However, I do understand your exhaustion with trying to correct that mistake.

As for the usage beyond spellchecking and grammar checking; it is up to an individual if they want to make more usage of it despite the ethical, privacy, and security concerns surrounding LLMs. I made my choice due to this, even that makes me feel occasionally uneasy. Making a decision with all the information is far better than falling for the hype surrounding LLMs at the moment.

If techbros weren’t trying to conflate LLMs with AI, I’d mostly have no issue with them. Still have concerns with the lack of security first and dubious means that are being implemented to gather data. LLMs are a useful spelling and grammar checking tool, so there are practical uses for them.

I wouldn’t yet use them for any other purpose until truly ethical practices are implemented. Also, the weird generative quirks are smoothed out.

A swamp cooler would potentially be a solution; those could be used in conjunction with your ready access to water in order to keep your home cool! Sadly, this is not great for areas of the world which already have high levels of humidity in the air. Thank goodness I switched to Apple before this nonsense got deployed; their Apple Intelligence is opt-in and not being forced on users. Google and Microsoft truly botched the deployment of their LLM experiments by forcing it into first party apps and not giving users a choice.

For the moment, they are simply better than the competition in regard to LLM ambitions. I got tired of Google being incompetent and not supporting an app/service for more than a few years. Google is chasing after a viral hit app without showing they could actually maintain it for more than longer than a year, at best. Apple is stable, they have a plan to keep their main services stable and useable! I switched to an iPhone last year, it’s a stable experience, if not a bit bland at times due to a lack of serious customization elements. Since moving away from Windows and going to Ubuntu, I even plan on getting a Mac Mini to manage my iPhone (since Linux doesn’t have those tools readily available). I don’t like Apple persay because I don’t trust any corporation, in a market with little choice; I chose them for the time being. When Linux phones are ready for the general audience that is when I will jump ship.

RCS, Better Home Screen and Control Center customization, finally getting locked and hidden apps on iOS as Android has had those for years! The Photos update is pretty good, in addition to Lock Screen customization.

We need this in the USA too! Innovation is stifled when platforms can directly affect the growth of other services, too bad the majority of our politicians are useless. I think it’s due to a combination of the tech still being relatively young (it’s made leaps and bounds) and its thoughtless hallucinations that pass as valid answers. If the training data is poisoned by disinformation or misinformation, it makes any output potentially useless at best, at worst it’s harmful. The quality of LLM results purely depends on the people in charge of creating them and the source of its data. After writing it out, I feel that I mistrust the people in control of LLM development because it’s so easy to implement this tech incorrectly and for the people in charge to be completely irresponsible. Since, the techbros behind this latest push for making LLMs into AI are so gung-ho about it, the guard rails have been pushed aside. That makes it all the easier for my fears to become manifest.

Once again, it sounds all well and good what Apple is likely trying to do with their implementation of LLM. However, I can’t help but wonder about how terribly wrong it can all go.

ChatGPT is a disaster in my opinion, it really soured my opinion on LLMs. Despite your educated opinion on the matter of Apple Intelligence; I have deep-seated mistrust of LLMs. Hopefully, it does turn out fine in the case of Apple’s implementation. I’m hesitant to be as optimistic about it. Once this is out in the wild and has been rigorously tested and prodded like ChatGPT; only then might my opinion on Apple Intelligence be changed.

No, I purely meant Apple making AI an opt-in feature is setting is an appropriate choice. Users should and have full control over their data and how a company can or cannot access it. My opinion on AI (LLMs in disguise) is that it’s very much a project which is not ready for general use beyond Autocorrection and Grammar checking.

I am no Apple Fanboy, but a decision like this in regards to Apple Intelligence being opt-in is a better move than what Microsoft and Google have done. I sure as shit will be keeping an eye on Apple as I don’t trust them enough to give them the keys to my data readily. They were a better option at the moment until Linux Phones are amazing enough to abandon iOS.
