On purpose, or on stupid? Answers prompt with “I know what I am doing”, breaks system, complains.

12·1 day agoSo your thermostat is tracking your location by GPS to know when to turn on?
I mean, I guess at least I can see how someone might benefit from it I suppose. I certainly don’t want that though.

12·1 day agoEither way you need to interact with your thermostat to change it, why add a vulnerability to it that the company may break it at some point?

12·2 days agoAnd it isn’t annoying to have to log into your thermostat every day?

14·2 days agoDo you leave work at different times each day and week that you don’t know about until you are at work?
Unless you do, a regular programmable thermostat would be fine.
Or going to/from work and doesn’t really have any other options.

1·3 days agoI would be fine with a low spec tablet. But it should be priced appropriately. Currently using some old fire tablet that I got second hand for £15. Occasionally web browser runs out of RAM and crashes if I use reddit but not really had a problem with lemmy.
I could be tempted by a slight upgrade for like £30-50 though. Maybe.

UK has even worse, buy to let. Interest only with the intent of renting it out. So you profit on the rents and profit on the house going up in value. Obviously you vote for governments that will lead to an increase in house prices too. Oh yeah most of government is made up of
parasiteslandlords too.
Why would anyone take one out in that case then? You can always overpay and pay it off sooner though.

51·3 days agoI usually hear people say US wages are great, and yet we managed to buy a house in our 20s when I was on near UK minimum wage. That was a couple of years ago as I am not in my 20s anymore. But I can still save up hundreds a month without even trying very hard.
No degree, no driving licence. The internet gave me the impression it wasn’t this easy. I would acknowledge only having unstable work at best must suck a lot more though.

18·4 days agoThey are welcome to fix the bugs themselves and make it public. Valve have done a fair bit of that with making windows games run on Linux IIRC.
They could even use their LLMs to fix the bugs, and everyone else can reject the shitty bugs it creates.

2·4 days agoYeah, I suspect most of /r/prisonhooch is still legit content, but it is kinda a rejection of commercialism. Not much you could sell them. A fermenting tub? The fuckers will use a water butt instead.

Don’t judge.
