Fun Fact:

Is this what happens when Germany stays out of trouble for a couple of decades?

Being weird is not an insult to us, we wear that hat with pride. But our weird behavior falls on one side of the “normalcy range”, the quirky, the funny, the confidently different, the queer side.

There is another side of “weird”, the side of creepy weird, the side of child predators, the side of tikki-torch nazis, the side of whatever the couch fuck is wrong with J.D. Vance. And they don’t wear that hat with pride, they wish they were normal or think of themselves as normal.

To the ones who hate us, who can’t stand our confident weirdness, and to the ones who are on the wrong side of weirdness, it’s an insult. That’s why we can be proudly weird, while they start foaming at the mouth at the mere implication that they might not be “normal”. That’s why this attack lands, they are the anti-queer, the anti-weird and pointing out that Trump behaves outside the accepted range of “normal” behavior (just in the opposite direction of our weird) is an effective attack.

PLEASE! I beg you! Take every perceivable action to change what options you have in the future. Change the options you can choose from. Go be active in local politics, go do something, anything, to achieve better representation, maybe try to change the way your voting system works.

But in the meantime, ensure that voting will still be an option in the future and don’t have your (and every vulnerable minorities) brains blown out.

And know that you are not alone, there are other people trying to expand your options, but they need help and time and they are generally convinced that the struggle for something better than shit will be lost or set back by DECADES if you allow the madman to blow your brains out.

I like this. It’s a matter of accessibility for many who are maybe not physically but mentally disabled, they absolutely lack access to lots of books and translating them into Simple English will open up new books and experiences for them.

Yes, most of us love the wordplay and artistry of books that are hard to read. It’s a really satisfying feature of language that it can move around so freely and artistically. But that also means that some people are basically gatekept by language from the stories this language tells. These translations don’t take away out ability to read the wordy, artsy original, they just enable other people to read the same story in a language better suited for them.
