Japan are not world-class. They’re a solid team, but despite being ranked in the top 20 they’re probably still considered weaker than many of the teams below them.
With that said, I always have a soft spot for countries that push players that play domestic football outside of Europe and in their own country. I’ve been on a Japan kick since Yu Hirakawa joined Bristol City on loan.

Genuinely interested in how that is practical in an office setting. We barely have room to keep leftovers, let alone decent bread and cheese. It’s also a bit boring if you’re having it most days.
Meal deals are rarely ever decent. They’re enough to get you through the working day if you sit at a desk all day.

Your post shouldn’t be downvoted. This is without question the best way to deal with this - speak to someone that not only knows about this stuff, but likely deals with it on a regular basis. They are LITERALLY FUCKING TRAINED TO DEAL WITH THIS!
Because the question at the time wasn’t does lemmy.world support potential animal abuse. Whether it is or isn’t isn’t really the topic here, but if one side feels strongly against the potential for abuse, there’s a question regarding lax moderation and what an instance supports.
Again, it’s not a great look for a community that isn’t looked upon favourably across the fediverse. Again, I’m sure it is possible that someone has created a vegan-friendly brand of cat food, but you have to assume that the topic of potential abuse will come up. Is an online forum the appropriate place to be giving what could be harmful advice that could endanger an animal if the wrong brand is pushed?
An emotional response to potential animal abuse just makes the admin human. It’s just plain weird to assume otherwise. The admins aren’t robots, they’re real people, and while I don’t necessarily disagree with either decision they made, I find it very odd that people want to hide the cold fact that this decision reflects very poorly on the content hosted within lemmy.world.
It’s not just a diet thing, it’s a matter of animal abuse.
I don’t doubt that there are options out there for people that want to feed their pets a vegan-friendly diet, but given that cats primarily eat meat the idea of promoting a vegan diet that isn’t heavily monitored and noted by their vet is an awful look for the vegan community and Lemmy. You absolutely cannot expect people to just treat this as a moderation issue, because at its most fundamental level it’s about whether lemmy.world supports content that is harmful to animals.
I said it elsewhere here, and since people don’t like it being raised I’ll say it again: shit like this wouldn’t fly on Reddit. Lemmy has a poor reputation on the Fediverse for housing extreme opinions, and this debacle really won’t help its reputation as a fed-friendly alternative to Reddit. Saying “go back to Reddit” just highlights the problem more, and is probably why there are plenty of posts on the Fediverse asking why Lemmy is so hostile, or why it’s nowhere near as friendly as many communities on Mastodon.
They are heavily linked. If moderation is lax enough to allow what many perceive to be animal cruelty then it endangers one of the largest mediums in the fediverse. Lemmy already has a poor reputation on Mastodon, and the debate on this really doesn’t help shine a good light on lemmy.world.
Same goes for the Brexit vote. They’re responsible for a lot of damage to the western economies…
TSA (obviously) isn’t a thing outside of the US. Airport security does suck, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it is when flying to America.
If flying during a quiet period, with all the right checks and few queues you can get through security in 5 mins. When it really fucking sucks is when it’s busy, something airports should be able to deal with easily.
We can do that while we’re waiting at the bar for our next pint.
It was the Edinburgh Fringe Festival recently, which is a huge comedy and arts festival that occurs yearly. If you’re a stand-up fan it’s basically your main event on your calendar. Dave is a TV channel here in the UK that plays a lot of comedy.
One of the coveted awards is Joke of the Fringe, where comedians are judged on their best one-liner. As you can imagine, while it predates social media by many years it’s basically a content gold mine - either from the top list or from those that heard hundreds of new, solid jokes.
It’s not the same thing, but IMO the best things the admins can do is establish a runbook of sorts of how to deal with these situations - because they’re not out of the realms of possibility.
Where I disagree with some is in the rules needing to be black and white. There are instances, say for example a self-harming support group or a community that deals with conditions with no medical cure. IMO this is where nuance is key, because people will share misinformation or procedures that could cause harm/illness. This is where a case by case basis is needed, and ultimately the “path of least harm” is where this will excel. Regardless, admins and mods should contribute to these runbooks for their case, so that there is an established plan that is transparent to all.
It’s basically capitalism as a game, but for the Genesis/Mega Drive era it was a surprisingly fun game. When I was a kid I played this before I even knew what McDonalds was, and many people I know thought I was crazy when I talked about a game I played where you collected the Golden Arches while being guided by Ronald McDonald on an environmental quest.
