Would be awesome, but I don’t see it happening. This man has so much support still— especially in the high levels of state government— it’s disgusting. Republicans are still massively supportive of Trump and he’s nearly a shoe-in for the R nomination.
Had_ it last night— 2am on Oct. 11th— on my work iPhone SE2. On a wireless charger in Sleep Focus. My 14 Pro was fine both nights (Sleep focus, wired charging). Both on 17.0.3.
Wonder if Apple will make a statement as this seems to be super widespread. And it doesn’t seem like there’s any particular pattern for who it happens to.
I’m really glad I’ve stopped actively using Reddit. The day Apollo shut down was my last day on the platform. Sure if a search result leads to a Reddit post I’ll still go, but long gone are the days of mindless scrolling through r/all. Probably has significantly improved my mental health too.
Or doesn’t care. Anything to own the libs.

The benefit at least in Germany is for commuters. My monthly pass went from costing over 150€ to 49€ as I had to pass through two transit agencies to get from my home to work. The fact that every transit company sets their own fares and doesn’t cooperate with neighbouring companies is fully irrelevant now to the joys of many.
I don’t know if France is structured the same way, or if the plan of this is also to include local transport, but the Deutschlandticket is saving me a lot of money and headache.
Man, is it just me or is nature really fucking us hard this year? Maybe we shouldn’t be aiming to constantly destroy it every chance we get…

I buckled and bought a stand-AC a few years ago when I literally couldn’t sleep for days during an insanely hot summer here in Germany. I really try not to use it much but on those days when it’s unbearable it’s literally a lifesaver.
AC never was popular because it used to be that you never needed it here. You’d have maybe one or two days above 30 a year where I live and that wouldn’t be enough to heat up the concrete walls, so your living space still stayed cool. And at night the temperature would drop and you could simply air out your flat. Now it’s different though and it’s seriously a shame that people still doubt climate change is happening.
Maybe try turning off mobile data for FaceTime. It’s an option under mobile / cellular settings.
For iMessage I unfortunately don’t think you can do anything but turn it and leave it off entirely.

I’ve been on 17 since Beta 1 and this has been by far the smoothest beta series I’ve ever used. 1 was great, 2 had a few graphical glitches but was still pretty smooth… just downloaded 3 and am so far not seeing anything noteworthy as far as bugs. Everything seems snappy as ever.
I’ve been using Mlem and the latest update seemingly has an Apollo inspiration behind it. I will probably be sticking with it— in fact, it’s now in the place on my home screen where Apollo has sat for 7 years. Really sad to have to do that but Reddit is now effectively dead to me.
The right thing to do would be for the subreddits that went dark to go permanently private on June 30th. The two day protest can be framed as a warning.
If this doesn’t happen there will not be any changes. The Reddit leadership treated the protest as simply something they would need to “get through” before things return to normal.

So I’m a total newbie to this whole thing, and I’m sure I’m just being stupid, but I’m running into a weird problem. There’s a community on feddit.de that I’d like to participate in (!germany@feddit.de), and I found it successfully in the lemmy.world search, but when I go in via the search result, it doesn’t show any content. However going to the community directly on via the URL — https://feddit.de/c/germany — I see a post with a bunch of comments.
Is there something I’m missing here? I can subscribe and post via lemmy.world but it seems like I’m the only one in the community.
