“President Trump, thank you” sounds more and more like “Shut the fuck up now, bitch” every time a moderator says it.

The moderators are sadly weak and afraid of him. He’s being allowed to run rampant.

I’m not American, but I thought it was a pretty big deal that it was not a title for life, besides that just being very confusing.
Every former president tends to be called president still quite often. If you look up news articles about most former presidents you’ll find a pretty solid split between just saying ‘President X’ and specifying ‘former President X’.
It might be related to a military rule where retired officers get to keep using their rank title unless discharged in negative ways. Or maybe it’s just sort of traditional.
I see! That’s not how I’ve taken ‘Prime Minister’ to be used, hence my surprise. It’s used to refer not just to the person, but specifically them in that role for that time period.
So to me, President Obama was a (recent) historical figure, even though Mr. Obama is still alive.
