Joe Biden has spent the last several months laying out the reasons why it would be a terrible idea to give Donald Trump a second term in officeā€”reasons that include everything from Trumpā€™s assault on reproductive rights to his pledge to be a dictator only ā€œon day one.ā€ And on Wednesday, the president added another entry to the list: the fact that his opponent appears to have completely lost touch with reality.

Speaking to supporters at a fundraiser in San Francisco, Biden reportedly referred to Trumpā€™s claim that he and Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalnyā€”who recently died in an Arctic penal colonyā€”had suffered similar treatment, with the president remarking, ā€œSome of the things that this fellowā€™s been saying, like heā€™s comparing himself to Navalny and saying thatā€”because our countryā€™s become a communist country, he was persecuted, just like Navalny was persecuted. I donā€™t know where the hell this comes from.ā€ Biden added: ā€œI mean, if I stood here 10, 15 years ago and said any of this, youā€™d all think I should be committed. It astounds me.ā€

Would be interesting if the rest of the campaigns took place in the same senior care facility.

Just shuffle all of the ā€œleadershipā€ off, scuffling amongst themselves. Include McConnell, honestly probably Pelosi, Grassley. Eventually theyā€™ll get distracted by board games or whatever and we can figure out next steps.

Iā€™ve said before that their debates will be reminiscent of the Lincoln-Douglas debates, not because of the high oratory, but because they both think they remember them.
