This is not true. C’mon. I hate Gaetz’s guts. But it’s not like he was wielding it at security.
People can transport weapons via checked in luggage. It wouldn’t be uncommon for some distracted packer to put it in their carryon - at which point the person would be stopped and told “you can either dispose of it, or not enter the secure area. Your choice.”
This is not true either. My boss accidentally had a bullet in his bag. No gun or anything to actually use it and they held him and threatened to arrest him. He’s white btw.
What’s wild here is I had 20 bullets in my backpack that I accidentally left in there, and they let me through, and through a connecting flight, and only caught them on the flight home, and made me throw them away. I am white which could have contributed to the “toss to enter” treatment, but I did technically fly with explosives in my carry on.

Unless you’re brown like me, of course ;)

Sucks to be your boss, then, but that’s pretty anecdotal. Plus you can’t compare a bullet with a taser.
I’m replying to a comment that just specified weapons in general.
Fair enough.
It was definitely true in the Bush years. Less so now. That was a dumb time. Unlike now, which is dumb in new and unique ways.
