“Last night, Trump is at a rally and he’s going on and on mentioning me several times as to why I didn’t take security during the Capitol riots. Why I didn’t handle January 6 better. I wasn’t even in DC on January 6. I wasn’t in office then,” Haley said.

“They’re saying he got confused. That he was talking about something else. That he was talking about Nancy Pelosi. He mentioned me multiples times in that scenario,” the former South Carolina governor added.

The closer we get to the election the more apparent it is that the stress of his mounting legal troubles has taken a considerable toll on him. He was mentally unfit for office in 2016 and 2020 too but the difference today is staggering. What she’s referring to was not a minor slip or getting tongue-tied.

There’s no way on earth he’ll debate Biden in the fall if he gets the nomination. He simply is not capable of doing so. This demented piece of shit doesn’t know where he is or who he’s running against. Reporters need to be asking him where he is during every single public appearance between now and the election. I have no doubt the failure rate would be near 100%.

If he does I’m sure he’ll be spewing his bullshit lies way faster than the fact checkers can go and probably just personal attacks on Biden. You know, instead of actual policies.

If you remember the last debate, he used it to give a shoutout to The Proud Boys to “Stand back and stand by.” We all watched the call to arms for the J6 insurrection on live TV.

I think there are a sizable number of Nimarata’s supporters who won’t vote for Trump.

Republicans who can actually do math, are more concerned with economic issues, actually support the military and haven’t fully bought into their social agenda I.E. Fiscal Conservatives and Defense Hawks have no place in Trumps party. There were a lot of retirements this year by people on this side of the Republican spectrum like Mitt Romney. They don’t want anything to do with Trump and his agenda. They are either fleeing the party or are backing anyone who they think can stop Trump.

These people may not vote for Biden but they definitely won’t vote for Trump.

That’s what we all thought in the last two elections, it didn’t quite work out that way. Always remember that the last election was run on record turnout. So much turnout, in fact, that Trump not only got more votes than any Republican, he got more votes than any winning candidate before him. The only person in the history of the Republic who got more votes than Trump is Biden. Millions of people who didn’t vote for Trump in 2016 saw what he did as President, said “I want more of that!”, and changed their mind.

There will be no cavalry of centrist Republicans separating the GOP from itself.

You have pointed out valid points, but how do you explain the last midterm elections?

Historical trends indicate that Republicans should have swept the House and Senate elections. Instead the Senate remained in Dem hands and Republicans now hold the house with the slimmest majority in a hundred years.

Republicans didn’t show up in force for the social issue’s that the party was pushing. They didn’t have an economic agenda and their foreign agenda was marginally pro Russian.

Trumps agenda is unchanged except he has a ton of vendettas and authoritarian views mixed in.

They’re midterms, they are a lot less exciting for the retail voter if the top job is not on the ballot. Democrats did much better with turnout because there were a lot of states with abortion rights on the ballot. But since the midterms are normally boring, in those states Democrats were able to make the abortion thing the key driver for turnout.

This election has a lot more issues, both legitimate issues that the candidates need to debate on, and fake issues ginned up by the misinformation machine on social media. The same recipe that worked during midterms won’t work when the tiktok feeds of the older GenZ cohort that Democrats are relying on is complaining about GeNoCiDe jOe…

(You see, the situation in Gaza, and the US support of Israel, are valid topics for discussion, but not if you’re trolling overly simplistic talking points with the intent of blowing it all up).

After Trump said she won’t be his VP, all gloves are off. She is now fighting slightly more aggressively. Good for her. She should have done it from the start. I mean, she won’t win and will take votes from Trump. So I’m rooting for her so Biden will have a higher chance of winning.

        It kinda is though.

If she manages to get people to hate Trump, there’s a possibility that they won’t go vote at all, since there’s “two bad guys” there.

This decreases how many votes Trump would get but doesn’t decrease how many Biden would get, since, I’d guess, people won’t be deciding between her and Biden, but her and Trump.

I can’t speak for everyone, but as someone who went all in on Bernie Sanders and donated money to his campaign despite being broke, because I wanted him to have every little piece he could get to win, I sucked it up and voted for Hillary Clinton. When I heard Donald Trump say he’d keep us in suspense about accepting the results of the election if he were to lose, that was all it took for me to put my whole heart into Clinton. I was terrified he’d win and I was terrified of what would happen if he lost. I’m still terrified. January 6 was a mess, and that mess isn’t even close to being over.

All of the Sanders supporters that I knew personally voted for Clinton, that’s just my little anecdote though.

Not really. Unless you want to argue that people who preferred Bernie wouldn’t vote for her in the general because they preferred Bernie in the primary. But I kind of suspect those people wouldn’t have liked her even if Bernie didn’t run.

It would take a financial transaction of many zeros to get me to vote for trump. I’m a FOSS loving, state-hating, anarcho-socialist. I live in a closed primary state, so only party members can vote. I want to help split the GOP into the two worthless parties it should be.

I’m not sure about you, but I used to be a registered Republican. Though my views were more centralist.

I’m not quite sure when my centralist Republican views became extremely far left when my stance hasn’t changed since the day I was able to vote.

The first time I voted Democrat was Obama. What he did in the office is closer to a centrist Republican.

Right now I would kill to get another McCain or even a Romney.

I’m not sure where I’m going with this but I feel like sharing

Romney might have brought Romneycare(universal healthcare). We might not have a shit senate that was hell bent on stopping every justice Obama tried to appoint. We might still have RvsW. We might not have Trump.

Haley has said that her next debate would either be with Donald Trump or Joe Biden. Maybe Biden should take her up on that. Debates are really just reality TV programming anyway, if they can come up with a excuse to have a irrelevant debate between the Governors of Florida and California, then they can make this happen while Haley is still a viable candidate.

If Trump declines, then the two of them can take all their time hammering him on his mental deficiencies. And I think Biden is in need of a debate to prove that although he is old, he is still mentally sharp. Biden needs to make sure people know that he is able to do the job, and that all the talk online about his mental decline is really Trump’s DARVO showing.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley on Saturday questioned Donald Trump’s mental fitness after he appeared to confuse her with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi when talking about the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

Haley told a crowd of voters in Keene, New Hampshire: “The concern I have is – I’m not saying anything derogatory, but when you’re dealing with the pressures of a presidency, we can’t have someone else that we question whether they’re mentally fit to do it.”

A senior Trump campaign adviser, Chris LaCivita, posted on X Saturday, “Nancy ….Nikki ….its a distinction without a difference.”

Beyond confusing Haley with Pelosi, Trump’s contention that the speaker of the House is responsible for US Capitol security is not accurate, as CNN previously fact-checked.

In the days before Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, Haley, 52, has sought to highlight her age gap with Trump, 77, and President Joe Biden, 81.

For weeks, Trump’s campaign has treated Haley as a serious threat in New Hampshire — and the candidate himself made that clear with a series of attacks on social media and at a rally in the state.
