VPNs are still worth it for that purpose, particularly torrenting… Not sure who is saying this but they are wrong.

Somehow I’ve gotten dinged several times by my isp while torrenting behind a VPN. I’m not sure how it is happening because I am disciplined in my use and all the apps related to it will only function if the VPN is up and running. It’s almost as if there’s something in video file itself that activates outside of the VPN somehow. Or if private internet access is not offering comprehensive protection any longer.

VPNs are still worth it for privacy. I look at it as fingerprint protection. I’m not 100% certain if companies fingerprint you via IP anymore, but it’s a nice layer to anonymize my traffic because they don’t know who’s using Sever 3793’s IP.

If you want to browse the internet privately/anonymously, then use Tor (but please do not download big files using Tor! It has limited bandwidth and people in countries where thye have heavy censorship rely on Tor to communicate). If you want to hide your activity from your ISP and torrent stuff, then VPNs are absolutely still the way to go. Just make sure you use a reputable one like Mullvad or ProtonVPN
