While Turkish immigrants in the Marxloh neighborhood of Duisburg had until now mostly voted for the Social Democratic party (SPD, center-left), they have gradually been drawn to the anti-immigration and conservative rhetoric of the far right.
To give this a little context :in 2023 there was a Secret meeting between afd officials and far right extremists where they discussed the deportation (remigration is a euphemism used to mask the inhumanity that is evoked here) of millions of immigrants and citizens.
After huge backlash and demonstrations in 23/24 the party started to embrace the term and wove it into their official party line, not unlike ‘project 2025’ from maga.
So no, it is not ‘concerned citizens’ that just want to protect society from ‘criminals’, they are racist, dehumanizing bigots who are planning fascist deportations of ‘undesirables’, not exclusive to immigrants but also including citizens, also not unlike ICE and MAGA are acting at the moment. Nevermind that at least in Germany this goes against basic constitutional law including article 1 of the German constitution:
“Human dignity shall be inviolable. To respect and protect it is the duty of all state authority.”
