Israel has seen emigration double since the attacks of October 7, 2023, and the subsequent war in Gaza. While some are choosing to leave for security reasons, among those choosing exile are activists weary of war and feeling increasingly isolated amid their country’s illiberal drift.

In Canada at least they don’t get to go around doing pogroms on Palestinians.

Canada didn’t intervene when Zionist organizations went selling Palestinians land in the west bank in synagogues

That makes my point even more. In Canada, they are subject to our laws and our politics. We can push our authorities to do their job. We have agency and bandwidth here that the Palestinians over there don’t.

No, that doesn’t make you point. Canada should definitely intervene and punish orgs that sell occupied lands to Canadian Zionists. Which law allow them to do this terrible immoral thing?

There no Zionist orgs in Canadian terrorism list showing the double standard

Yeah ok, just to be clear. I’m not saying Canada is fine or that the government is doing the right thing. The government turns a blind eye all the time. Zionist orgs can sell stolen Palestinian land in synagogues and nobody in power lifts a finger. That should be illegal. That is a double standard.

But there’s a difference between the Canadian state and Canada as a place where people live. The government sucks, but we still have space here to organize, protest, call stuff out, pressure MPs, build solidarity. Over there in Israel, people who make Aliyah go straight into a settler-colonial state with an army and full impunity. We lose them.

So yeah, I’d rather even the most annoying Zionist stay here where we can argue, expose, and maybe even change minds. Not because Canada is “righteous” but because it’s a battlefield where we have agency.

This isn’t about saying Jews are more important or letting anyone off the hook. It’s about keeping people out of the occupation and using what power we do have to make that happen.

I didn’t say that our Zionists should be sent to Israel. Anybody who harass jews in Canada face repercussions when found so there is no reason to believe that European or Canadian jews are fleeing to Israel because they no longer feel safe, in Israel they would experience constant feel of unsafety due to rockets . As opposed to anti occupation who are not involved are accused of being antisemite while people doing illegal stuffs like selling lands in occupied territories face zero repercussions.
