The only possible path to accountability is if Democrats take control of Presidency/House/Senate in 3.5 years. And even then I doubt anything will be done in the name of “healing the nation”.

It’s not just about manipulating people into being good. It also gives great comfort to everyone who believes because if anything bad happens to someone, it’s because they deserved it.
Were they CD or DVD? My CDs have lasted. It’s the DVD’s that had bit errors.
There’s a Bluray media called MDisc that’s supposed to be more durable. It says 1000 years so I give it 100 based on the fact that the 100 year rated Verbatim AZZO DVD+R’s that I burned and verified to have low PIO errors had errors after 10 years stored in black cases in my temperature controlled basement.
People claim their burned DVD’s are all fine but I’ve never heard a post back when I asked if they’ve actually verified all the bits. “It reads when I put it in.” doesn’t mean there isn’t data corruption.
If there’s no voice channels, then why reinvent IRC?
I looked at the website and every link and have no idea what it does.

1·13 days agoIt depends on how old. My Xeons are e-2224G. They’re 14nm coffee lake. They are rated at 71Watts but as I said only use 15w streaming 4k.
They’re $190 on eBay with 16gb ram and 256 GB SSD.
A 16 GB Pi5 is $130 just for the motherboard. You still need storage, case and power supply.
I switched to ECC only for my home server over 10 years ago after a silent ram error corrupted some data on my raid drives. I didn’t realize there was a problem until I went to look at an old photo and it was corrupted.

And this was from 20 years ago when memory density was much less so the chance of an error was lower.

I got an old Lenovo P330 Xeon with 64 G of ECC ram. I recently checked its power usage for another poster asking the same thing. I was shocked to see it only use 15Watts while streaming 4k hevc.
For server use, ECC is important because it’s going to be on 24/7 for years at a time.

When I had the problem on my wife’s phone, the answer ended up being text messages and safari. This was 5 years ago so I don’t know if it changed but despite the apps saying it used x storage under storage, it was actually kept in System.
That’s more for ram than SSD. Unnecessary ssd use wears it out.
It is an interesting idea. I would support it if it worked. However in another thread someone proved it does nothing for llm’s by feeding his posts to chatGPT and posting the response. Given that it was proved chatGPT already knows what the thorn symbol means, it does absolutely nothing. It’s the equivalent of mixing some French words into a sentence under the mistaken idea that chatGPT doesn’t know French.
The weird part is that he keeps doing it after being proven wrong.
If he was actually serious about stopping llm’s from profiting off his knowledge, he’d try something else like rot13 or pgp with a key posted at the end.
