WTF? M4 beats it with around 35-40%, and Apple also has M4 Pro and Max!
I was not aware that Apple is still so far ahead?
Still the Dimensity is both efficient and a beast and a huge improvement over last gen top Android SOC’s.
Way more power than I personally need in my phone.

Apple’s killin it in the ARMs race.

Tin foil hat conspiracy time: I’m sure Valve has some interest in ARM, given the potential battery life gains. I’m half-expecting them to do for ARM Linux gaming what they did for x86 Linux gaming, and accidentally make macOS a viable gaming platform in the process.

Wow that’s some pretty wild speculation, that could be fun, but the last part about Apple I think is highly unlikely.
But an Arm based Steam Deck could be very interesting. ;)

Definitely overkill, but considering the chip is going into flagship phones it’s almost to be expected. Really going off topic here, but with this much performance, I really think the next step should be to make x86_64 apps compatible on these phones. Wine on ARM is getting pretty good with projects like FEX and Box64 being capable of getting console-like performance on full blown desktop games with these newer phones. Idk, I feel like features like Samsung Dex could actually become a serious desktop replacement if they could implement more office solutions from PC’s programs. We’re at the point where I think it would be feasible to do, imo.

        Wine on ARM

        Ha that’s crazy. 😋
But so was Wine on Linux 20 years ago, although it kind of worked sometimes even back then, and it’s such a cool tool today.

I sooo much wanted an Arm based laptop that could run Linux well, when the netbooks came out originally, competing with the OLPC.
But it never happened, all we got were handicapped Chromebooks and some shitty Android devices. Next year it will be 20 years since I dreamed of that, and now I frankly don’t care anymore.
Talk about a missed opportunity for Arm.
