The south doing something good for themselves? Yeah right. The next crazy Republican will just convince them that getting health care at all is commie bullshit and anti-Jesus.
You can’t help someone who doesn’t want help, and you also can’t help someone who does want help if regional power brokers will oppose you on principle. It’s a noble effort for workers who absolutely need it, but that’s it.
