Sorry, why is this posted to upliftingnews that we still have people who can’t afford basic necessities and are dependent on charity from rich people?

…because its an outlier? I can’t even find shoes with half size increments above 11 much less anything above a size 14. 23 is just not something that the majority of shoe companies will produce, much less shoes store stocking them.

While I agree with you that shoes are a basic necessities, I bet there are a bunch of families that can afford $60 shoes for their kids but not $600 shoes. This kid is a genetic outlier and that makes this one of those situations where a community can come together to help someone with a unique problem. His community donated $12k before Shaq got involved, so Shaq’s charity is just icing on the cake. Also worth noting that Shaq has done work to make shoes more affordable for all people but it’s an unreasonable expectation for him to stock every Walmart with Size 26 shoes.

Because there’s an unspoken rule that all “uplifting news” has to be about individuals giving gifts to others.

Anything about the whole world getting better goes against the narrative that the whole world is getting worse.

I think the $12,000 gofundme will help, and if he wears out one pair every 6 months Shaq set him up for 6 years. He’ll be 22. If he can’t buy shoes by then it’s not anyone’s problem but his.

I found some size 23 shoes for sale locally. $600/pair. Absolutely no one but his own fault if he can’t afford those when he’s 22 especially in today’s booming economy.

Might not be an issue. My feet stopped growing at about age 16.

It’s not back to square one, though: they’ve got an in with Shaqa Claus now. They ask for some 24s, they’re gonna get some 24s.

Ya Shaq should have gone and cut his toes off so he can fit in regular shoes.
