Former No. 3 House Republican Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) recirculated Rep. Elise Stefanikā€™s (R-N.Y.) statement on the Jan. 6 Capitol attack after the current House GOP Conference Chair reportedly deleted it off her website.

ā€¦

On Saturday morning, Cheney posted on X that she was informed that Stefanik deleted her statement about Jan. 6 where she called for the Jan. 6 perpetrators to be prosecuted ā€œto the fullest extent of the law.ā€ Cheney also shared the screenshot of Stefanikā€™s statement.

In her statement on the Capitol riot, Stefanik characterized the violence as ā€œanti-Americanā€ and called it a ā€œtragic.ā€

ā€¦

Stefanik has since changed the way she describes those who stormed the Capitol.

During an appearance on NBCā€™s ā€œMeet the Pressā€ in early January, she stated she had ā€œconcerns about the treatment of Jan. 6 hostages.ā€

Thereā€™s a limit to how much bullshit people will buy and for how long.

Itā€™s taking longer than weā€™d like, but the Trumpism of the Republican party has an expiration date. Over time, more and more people bend toward reality.

And then theyā€™ll pretend like they didnā€™t support him all along. That he was a ā€œfringeā€ candidate that somehow won the nomination and presidency, but was not a true Republicanā€¦

Naw, their go-to plan so far has just been to find someone worse, so that the previous terrible president doesnā€™t look so bad in hindsight.

The line is going to be ā€œat least he wasnā€™t smart or organized enough to do a successful coupā€ as the next candidate does one.

Itā€™s the Overton window, and theyā€™ve been pushing it hard since Nixon.

Or his reputation will fade and get rehabbed like Reagan and Dubya, especially when the next Republican administration is monstrous in new and terrible ways.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

recirculated Rep. Elise Stefanikā€™s (R-N.Y.) statement on the Jan. 6 Capitol attack after the current House GOP Conference Chair reportedly deleted it off her website.

After sharing Stefanikā€™s statement, it was deleted from the New York congresswomanā€™s page, which now only displays the ā€œERRORā€ message.

ā€œI fully condemn the dangerous violence and destruction that occurred today at the United States Capitol.

Americans have a Constitutional right to protest and freedom of speech, but violence in any form is absolutely unacceptable and anti-American.

During an appearance on NBCā€™s ā€œMeet the Pressā€ in early January, she stated she had ā€œconcerns about the treatment of Jan. 6 hostages.ā€

Cheney, who was one of the lawmakers leading the probe into investigating the Capitol attack, recently called Stefanik a ā€œtotal crackpot.ā€ The former Wyoming congresswoman has been a staunch critic of former President Trump and allies who promoted false claims about the 2020 election that President Biden won.
